The salt, this « killer hidden », and his accomplice, the sugar are in our food for the most poor reasons which are:
- It returns the heavier goods, by keeping some water,
- It reinforces the taste of a flavourless product because of poorer quality, badly kept, or diluted in some cheap "excipient",
- It gives thirst, therefore encourages the consumption of drinks (themselves salt and sweet).
Hypertension, Obesity, Diabetes and deficit of National Insurance. Our health is therefore worth less dear than their benefits?
Europe must consider salt and sugar to be damaging pollutants and force to restrict their concentration in our plates!
And after all, those who like salt and sweet tastes will keep any freedom to top up some salt and the lump sugar.
