Maltese Recommendations on the Economic and Social Future of Europe availiable

The European Citizens Consultation in Malta gathered 30 citizens on the 21st and 22nd March 2009 at the Corinthia Palace Hotel in Balzan to develop the Maltese perspectives on the economic and social future of Europe in a globalising world.
The citizens participating in the consultation were randomly invited according to criteria of representativeness: different age groups, different educational levels, gender, geographical distribution, and other Member States-specific criteria were considered to ensure that the citizens attending the European Citizens’ Consultation in Malta represented the demographic composition of the country as a whole.
The opening speech was delivered by Dr. Gabriella Pace from the Malta-EU Steering and Action Committee. In addition, Maltese Members from the European Parliament were present as well as Hon Dr. Chris Said (Parliamentary Secretary for Public Dialogue and Information), Dr. Vanni Xuereb (Head of MEUSAC) and HE Jean François Delahaut (Ambassador of Belgium)
The event was organised by the Malta Regional Development and Dialogue Foundation (MRDDf) in collaboration with the Malta-EU Steering and Action Committee (MEUSAC) under the lead of the King Badouin Foundation in Brussels.
The final report including the 10 recommendation made by the Maltese participants can be accessed here.
