The project European Citizens’ Consultations 2009 is very honoured to receive the patronage of the President of the European Parliament, Hans-Gert Pöttering.

Mr. Pöttering expresssed his enthusiasm towards the projet: “This pan-european project’s focus on getting citizens interested and involved in European Affairs and offering an opportunity for a public debate between Members of the Parliament and citizens is a major concern for the European Parliament, particularly at this key period, in the run-up to the elections 2009”. The questions, ideas and contributions of citizens to European discussions are at the heart of the Parliament’s work, as an EU institution representing citizens’ interests at the European level. It is therefore with great pleasure that I grand the patronage of the European Parliament to your project”.

The final recommendations of the citizens will be handed over to President Pöttering and to other Presidents of European institutions, at the European summit, taking place on the 11th of May 2009.
