The EU should strengthen consumer protection policies, including for e-commerce. It should do this through measures such as systematic controls of such things as food and pharmaceuticals and imports from outside the EU. There should be stringent labelling which facilitate comparisons between products and commodities. The process of complaints and suggestions should be accelerated. A central control agency which can issue sanctions should also be established.
Throughout the European Citizens' Consultations, 1 600 citizens from the 27 countries of the EU have determined 15 recommendations on the economic and social future of Europe. You may discuss these recommendations in this dedicated forum.

I think that the biggest danger for the consumers nowadays is the e-commerce as except for some well-known websites, it is very hazardous to order to several ones as the consumer cant be sure to received the products he paid for or if the products received are totally safe etc...Its is different from the usual physical stores which are very controlled and where the consumer can go back if something is wrong etc...with these new internet services, it is hard to find a person to talk to in case of problem, this is the main area the EU has to focus to improve the consumer protection and reduce insecurities.
European citizens are thankful to EU for developing consumer protection and strenghtening consumer involvement (e.g. passengers rights in air transport). It was one of the best ways for EU to gain acceptance for its institutions.
