ECC receives support from rapporteur of the Parliament's report on the perspectives for developing civil dialogue in the EU

Prof. Genowefa GRABOWSKA, MEP and also rapporteur of the Parliament's report on the perspectives for developing civil dialogue in the European Union has just granted ECC 2009 her support:
"We are not seeking coalitions between states, we are uniting people,' said Jean Monnet. Though we all know that the European project cannot be taken forward without the involvement of the Europeans themselves, somehow our citizens feel disregarded in the EU decision-making process. I am the rapporteur of the European Parliament's report on the perspectives for developing civil dialogue in the European Union which just aims to establish new inter-institutional agreements and improve methods for organising the consultation process and the funding of civil society.
I think that it’s especially important now - in view of the forthcoming European election campaign - to draw attention to civil dialogue. EU citizens must be assured that voting in the elections will give them (through the Members that they elect)a significant voice in the EU decision-making process, in particular in the decisions that affect their daily lives.
Therefore, I would like to thank all the people working within the European Citizens’ Consultations project. That great work that you do must be continued. I strongly support the idea of the European debate across the EU because its results are my guidance while working within the European Parliament! Above all, we are here in the European Parliament on behalf of our Citizens and for them!
'Nothing about us without us' - should be the main motto taken by the European institutions!"
The European Citizens' Consultations are the first-ever pan-European debate involving citizens from all 27 Member States to debate the future of the European Union across the boundaries of geography and language.
